Teen Breast Implants

Teen Breast Implants

Breast surgery statistics are a testament to the fact that teen cosmetic surgery, particularly breast implant surgery, is on the rise. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 11,326 breast augmentations were performed on individuals 18 years of age or younger last year--three times more than the previous year. A plastic surgery breast implant is even rumored to be a frequently-requested high school graduation gift--perhaps, then, plastic surgery for teens is becoming more accepted by parents of certain social circles.

Many parents who do not condone teen cosmetic surgery wonder if it suitable to perform breast enlargement surgery on patients whose breasts may continue to grow and change until their early twenties.

There have been no long-term studies or clinical trials on the risks of breast augmentation surgery on patients under 18, so eventual effects of breast augmentation cosmetic surgery is an uncertain subject.

Although cosmetic surgeons perform surgery on under 18-year olds, medical boards such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons have no official position on breast augmentation plastic surgery for teens.
